Same-day spring replacement

Garage Door Spring Repair in Oklahoma and Texas

A broken spring is one of the most disruptive problems your garage door can have. When it goes, the door will not open, and forcing it can damage the door or hurt someone. We replace springs the same day, using high-cycle springs built to outlast the factory originals.

Why springs fail

Every spring has a lifespan, and our weather shortens it

Garage door springs are rated by cycle count, where one cycle is a single open and close. A standard factory spring is rated for about 10,000 cycles, roughly seven to ten years for a household that runs the door four to six times a day. When it reaches that limit, the metal fatigues and snaps, often without warning and sometimes with a bang that sounds like a gunshot inside the garage.

Oklahoma and Texas weather speeds that up. Hard summer heat, fast temperature swings, and humidity make springs expand, contract, and corrode faster than in milder climates, so a spring that might last ten years elsewhere can fail in six or seven here. That is why we install high-cycle springs rated for 25,000 cycles or more. This service is part of our full range of garage door services.

Know your door

Torsion springs vs. extension springs

Not all garage door springs are the same. Knowing which type you have explains how your door operates and what is involved in replacing it. We inspect and replace both.

Torsion SpringsModern & heavier two-car doors

Mounted horizontally above the door on a metal shaft, they wind and unwind to store and release energy as the door moves. Most modern doors, especially heavier two-car doors, use them because they give more controlled movement, last longer, and are safer when they break, since a broken torsion spring stays on the shaft instead of flying loose.

Extension SpringsOlder homes & lighter single doors

These run along the horizontal tracks on each side of the door, stretching and contracting to counterbalance its weight. Older homes and lighter single-car doors commonly use them. When an extension spring breaks, it can snap free if safety cables are not installed, which is one more reason professional replacement matters. We flag any missing safety cables when we inspect your system.

Catch it early

Signs your garage door spring is failing

Springs do not always break all at once. There are usually warning signs in the weeks before a full failure, and catching them early is faster, safer, and often cheaper than an emergency call. Watch for:

The door feels unusually heavy when you lift it by hand
Visible gaps or separation in the spring coils
Squeaking or grinding sounds during operation
The door opens unevenly or tilts to one side
The opener strains but moves the door only a few inches
A loud bang from the garage with no obvious cause

Not sure what your door uses? Check our garage door parts and accessories, or call and we will walk you through it. If the spring has already broken, our garage door repair and emergency repair teams can get to you fast.

What to expect

Our spring repair service, start to finish

When our technician arrives, the first step is a full check of the spring system and the door's balance. We do not just swap the broken spring and leave. We look at the cables, drums, and hardware for wear that could cause another failure soon after, and we tell you upfront if anything else needs attention before we touch it.

We carry the common torsion and extension sizes on every truck, so most replacements finish the same day you call, usually within a couple of hours. Before we go, we test the door balance and fine-tune the opener force so everything runs the way it should.

Garage door spring FAQs

Questions we hear a lot

How long does garage door spring replacement take?
Most spring replacements are done the same day you call, usually within a couple of hours, because we carry the common torsion and extension sizes on every truck from our Lawton, Denison, Abilene, and Shawnee offices. We also test the door balance and adjust the opener before we leave.
Can I replace my garage door spring myself?
We do not recommend it. Garage door springs are wound under extreme tension and are the part most likely to cause a serious injury. A slipped winding bar can break bones. Leave spring work to a trained technician with the right tools.
How do I know if my garage door spring is broken?
The clearest sign is a door that will not open or suddenly feels very heavy by hand. You may also hear a loud bang from the garage, see a visible gap in the torsion spring coils, or watch the opener strain and move the door only a few inches before stopping.
Should I replace one spring or both at the same time?
If your door uses two springs and one breaks, the other is usually close behind, since they wear at the same rate. Replacing both at once saves you a second service call and keeps the door balanced. Your technician will give you the honest call for your setup.
Do you offer service plans for maintaining installed doors?
Yes. We offer maintenance visits that keep springs, cables, and rollers in good shape and catch wear before it turns into a breakdown. Ask your technician about setting up a schedule.
